Artesa Winery

This environmentally conscious winery was built by removing and setting aside 30 feet of hilltop, then matching the facility’s height to the hill’s original elevation. The completed 127,000 sq. ft. structure was covered with reserved earth and planted with native grasses. The naturally insulated winery blends with the surrounding hillsides.

All Artesa wines are “ultra-premium”  with wines that are Intense, ripe, fruit-forward, opulent yet elegant wines in “high balance.”

Resident artist Gordon Huether exhibits works in various media, including glass and metal, throughout the visitor center, and his six sculptures surround the main fountain. A large bronze by Spanish sculptor Marcel Martí stands in the front reflecting pool. The sculpture of the Madonna and child in the courtyard by an unknown Catalan artist is a reproduction; the original resides in the Rondel Cellars in Spain. Reproductions of turn-of-the-century poster art commissioned by Codorniu with the leading Spanish artists of the day hang in the mezzanine stairwell.

The Carneros estate comprises 352 acres with 145 planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their 409-acre northern Alexander Valley property has 100 acres dedicated to Bordeaux varieties, as is almost half of our 180-acre ranch on eastern Napa Valley benchland. Their 300-acre Sonoma Coast property will yield 100 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Our Comments: Artesa is a spectacular winery built into the side of a mountain with never-ending views...on a clear day. The unique art deco architecture will entrance anyone. Maginicent fountains greet you at the entrance, cool art objects grace the winery inside and out.

The wines are fruit forward and great alone or with food. They offer unique varietals like tempranillo and Albarino. This is a must visit winery!
